Electronic Visit Verification (EVV)
The 21st Century CURES Act, signed into law on December 13, 2016, requires states to implement an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system for Personal Care Services (PCS) and for Home Health Care Services (HHCS). The Act stipulates that EVV systems must verify the type of service performed, the individual receiving the service, date of the service, location of the service delivery, the individual providing services, and the time the service begins and ends.
Agencies have various technology options to comply with the mandate. This can make deciding which way to go confusing. Providers are concerned how EVV will affect them: Will it create lots of extra work in our already busy days? How will caregivers adapt? Should I go with what my state offers for “free”?
