Sherill Mason Named as Director in Strategic Board Expansion

MatrixCare®, the largest long term post-acute care (LTPAC) technology provider in the United States, today announced that Sherill Mason has joined its Board of Directors. Ms. Mason brings a wealth of knowledge regarding post-acute care policy and strategy as well as practical experience as an operator executive across multiple LTPAC settings. She will be a key advisor relative to MatrixCare’s strategy and product portfolio as the company continues its aggressive expansion across the LTPAC spectrum of care.

As Principal of Mason Advisors, LLC, Ms. Mason specializes in the analysis of legislative and regulatory initiatives impacting the post-acute health care industry. She provides detailed analyses of new laws and regulations to health care providers, investors and consulting firms. Ms. Mason also assists providers in developing strategies and programs that will help them flourish in the ever-changing health care regulatory landscape.
Prior to establishing Mason Advisors, Ms. Mason was a senior policy analyst with Marwood Group, providing detailed analyses of post-acute health care legislative and regulatory initiatives to hedge funds and mutual funds. In this capacity, Ms. Mason followed the following industry sectors: recovery audit contractors; skilled nursing facilities; home health; hospice; inpatient rehabilitation facilities; long term acute care hospitals; durable medical equipment; home infusion therapy; long term care pharmacy; and outpatient therapy.
Prior to working with Marwood Group, Ms. Mason served as Senior Vice President of Resident Care & Services for Sunrise Senior Living, with responsibility for operations support, program development and the quality of care and services provided to 40,000 residents by 30,000 employees in 370 communities, operating in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada. The services provided by Sunrise include assisted living, independent living, skilled nursing, and home health care. Ms. Mason led the development of organizational strategy related to pharmacy and therapy services and guided the Resident Care & Services team through Sunrise’s acquisition of Marriott Senior Living Services.
For seven years prior to joining Sunrise, Ms. Mason was a Director with the Senior Care Services advisory practice of KPMG LLP, and served as KPMG’s National Subject Matter Expert for the home health, hospice, durable medical equipment, and home infusion therapy industries. She managed a variety of consulting engagements for health care providers, including due diligence; operations improvement; revenue cycle management; strategy development and implementation; and regulatory compliance. Ms. Mason provided expert testimony on behalf of the United States in litigation that involved home health and durable medical equipment companies. Ms. Mason held the position of General Manager for several home health, home infusion and durable medical equipment companies before joining KPMG.
Ms. Mason is a Registered Nurse and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in American Studies with Distinction from Eckerd College. Her remarks regarding senior care have been published in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal.com, and MSNBC.com. In 2004, she was listed in the Washington Post as one of the top ranked business women in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Mason has been a guest lecturer at University of Pennsylvania, providing classes to senior nursing students and Wharton undergraduates on the Affordable Care Act and government reimbursement for health care. In 2013, Organizing for Action appointed Ms. Mason statewide Fellow at Large for Pennsylvania, a role focused on educating groups and individuals on the Affordable Care Act.
She served on the Financial Management Forum of the National Association for Home Care for eight years. Ms. Mason also served on the Patient Services Committee of the Board of Trustees for the national ALS Association.
