Clinical Decision Support Incorporates Johns Hopkins Fall Risk Checklist Tool
July 21, 2014
Bloomington, MN – MatrixCare®, the industry-leading electronic health record (EHR) for long-term care and senior living providers, has licensed the Johns Hopkins Fall Risk Assessment Tool aimed at preventing falls. MatrixCare’s two signature clinical decision support products – Clinical Coach™ and Clinical Guardian™ will now feature this assessment checklist. The Johns Hopkins checklist was developed as part of a fall risk safety initiative and has been licensed by over 100 hospitals worldwide. MatrixCare is the first EHR for post-acute and long-term care to embed this fall prevention checklist.
John Damgaard, MatrixCare President and CEO, commented, "Clinical decision support embedded in the EHR will be critical for long-term care providers to leverage clinical resources to provide quality care for the growing population of seniors. Running ‘parallel systems’ with overlapping clinical workflows is not a viable solution as it introduces the potential for errors in data entry, decreases staff efficiency, and adds unnecessary costs. We are honored that Johns Hopkins is licensing their fall prevention checklist to MatrixCare. MatrixCare Clinical Coach and Clinical Guardian are the first and only clinical decision support tools built into an LTPAC EHR to reduce costs and re-hospitalizations, mitigate risks, and, more importantly, provide superior care and better outcomes."
"Healthcare today requires that providers demonstrate the use of evidence-based practices," said Denise Wassennaar, RN and MatrixCare Chief Clinical Officer. "The use of Johns Hopkins’ Fall Risk Assessment Tool demonstrates MatrixCare’s commitment to the use of evidenced based practices as the foundation of Clinical Coach and Clinical Guardian."
