MatrixCare PDPM Hands-On Training Opportunity
In preparation for PDPM, we’ve heard from many of you that a top concern is providing hands-on training to those who will be responsible for filling out the IPA assessments come the first of October. MatrixCare has you covered! We will have a complimentary education session and environment for you to utilize where you can log in to take a hands-on tour and fill out an IPA assessment. This might also be a great opportunity to update your organization’s PDPM training documentation and overall process documentation using the latest and greatest MatrixCare PDPM environment.

PDPM Estimations Report Now Available for MatrixCare MyAnalytics
This new report can help you forecast the PDPM impact on revenue prior to October 1, 2019. During the run-up to the implementation of PDPM on October 1st, you can use this report to measure and analyze the following:
- Differences in estimated revenue based on today’s RUG rates vs. estimated PDPM rates for the same MDS
- Estimated aggregate daily rates and clinical categories for PT, OT, SLP, Nursing, and NTA
The PDPM Estimations report is helpful for Skilled Nursing Facilities who have a large exposure to Medicare and seek to understand the PDPM impact on revenue prior to October 1, 2019. It provides an executive level view of PDPM versus a detailed operational view.

2020 ICD-10-CM Information Available
CMS has published information on the ICD-10-CM updates for FY 2020. The 2020 ICD-10-CM codes are to be used for discharges occurring from October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020, and for patient encounters occurring from October 1, 2019, through September 30, 2020.
CMS Training Available for Coding Specific Section GG Items
The Skilled Nursing Facility PPS Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) relies on accurate coding of several MDS Section GG mobility and self-care items that impact the PT, OT, and Nursing component per-diem case-mix payment rates.
On June 7, 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a series of short videos to assist providers with coding select Section GG items on the MDS. These videos, ranging from 4-12 minutes, are designed to provide targeted guidance using simulated patient scenarios. To access the videos, click on the links below:

CDC Infection Control Training and Education
Environmental services (EVS) personnel have the shared responsibility to help stop healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) from spreading by working with colleagues, prioritizing areas that pose immediate safety risks, and following guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting. An interactive training is now available which illustrates the important role EVS personnel have in the prevention of HAIs.
