CareAssist Meets Tough Requirements of Ohio Board of Pharmacy

The State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy is one of the most stringent state agencies in the country for administering and enforcing laws governing the practice of pharmacy and the legal distribution of drugs.

When we designed CareAssist, our new electronic medication administration record (eMAR) and point of care (POC) solution, we did so knowing that it would need to stand up to Ohio’s tough regulations.

Effective January, 2017, we are pleased to announce that CareAssist was deemed approvable for use in Ohio as an eMAR for e-prescribing and as a pharmacy centric order entry solution for both order entry and medication administration! In order to earn this status, CareAssist needed to demonstrate several key attributes. Among them:

  • Two-factor authentication (Positive ID)
  • Unidirectional & bi-directional data compatibility
  • NCPDP compliance
  • HL7 interface support
  • Barcode scanning for medication administration
  • Electronic controlled substance tracking

eMAR and POC – Two Powerful Solutions in One

CareAssist is unique in the marketplace, in part, because it combines eMAR and orders with POC. So, not only can it help senior living and skilled nursing providers reduce medication errors, it can also help caregivers document the individualized, patient-centered care they provide – all in one easy-to-use solution. Thanks to our intuitive software, the entire interdisciplinary team can more easily capture and manage scheduled tasks as well as access the data they need to keep residents happy. CareAssist Supports the Fee-for-Value Model

With the recent shift to quality-based care, reducing readmission rates is a top priority for many LTPAC providers. For some, the CareAssist eMAR solution may reduce medication errors by up to 70%, which could help decrease medication-related readmissions. And, because MatrixCare is extending Clinical Decision Support to the interdisciplinary team, including caregivers, it can improve workflows and patient survey scores. CareAssist significantly improves resident and family satisfaction due to its resident-centric foundation.
