PruittHealth wins award for decreasing resident falls by 1,000 in six months
In order for PruittHealth to accurately identify and prevent resident falls, they knew they needed a comprehensive solution that could help them effectively deliver care while keeping residents safe. This achievement was recently recognized at the 13th annual McKnight’s Tech Awards, where PruittHealth won the silver award for its “fall prevention feat.”
Before implementing CAI, PruittHealth faced challenges familiar to most long-term care organizations: an inability to accurately identify residents at risk for falls; reliance on individual assessments to identify fall risks which led to inconsistencies; and manual processes that made it time-consuming to allocate staff effectively.
At the same time, increasing amounts of data from various systems made it difficult for caregivers to navigate charts and make timely, informed decisions. It became apparent that they needed a comprehensive solution to ensure high-quality care and resident safety.
To address these issues, PruittHealth decided to implement MatrixCare’s Clinical Advanced Insights system. The new system allowed them to generate a “Top Ten At-Risk” list, which has been especially helpful on weekends when unit managers, directors of nursing and directors of health services may not be on site. The list helps ensure that the most vulnerable residents get the necessary attention and care, allowing staff to address emerging concerns promptly, which mitigates risk.
